STAFF & RECRUITMENT

 At Charlestown staff are greatly valued and many have long standing service with us.

We help staff grow, mature and practice excellent quality of care.  Many of our staff started as students and are now Room Leaders and Senior members of the team.  Staff  keep abreast of our ever changing industry and strive to deliver high standards of childcare.  Training  helps them achieve this.  All of our team hold a minimum of a Level 3 in Childrens care Learning and Development, many have achieved their Level 4 and 5 and we have an Early Years Teacher who co-ordinates our Early Years Foundation.

Our Manager, Debbie holds NNEB, NVQ Level 4 in Children’s Learning and Development, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator Level 1 & 2) Safeguarding children, First Aid and many more.

Our Deputy Manager hold, NNEB, BA Honours in Early Childhood Studies & Early Years Professional Status (EYP).

Senior staff hold NVQ  Level 4 in childrens care learning and development

All our staff are recruited by selection process which would be; written application, interview and an enhanced clearance from Disclosure and Barring service.  New staff are monitored closely and their practices reviewed every 4 weeks for the first 3 months.  Our staff are highly motivated and committed to the nursery and their own personal development.

I have worked at Charlestown Day Nursery for over 24 years now, during this time I have watched the nursery grow & develop from a 45 place to a 140 place nursery. It is always a pleasure to come into nursery each day, no two days are ever the same, the children make everyday worthwhile, smiling, laughing and developing with the excellent planning of our qualified staff.  Over the years, I have developed my own qualifications and helped support staff towards reaching their goals.  My own two children attendedCharlestown and have both developed into lovely young adults with a caring attitude to life.  Nursery is always buzzing with lots of fun & laughter, making me very proud to say I am the Manager of Charlestown Day Nursery.

I hold BA (Honours) in Early Childhood Studies and the Early Years Professional Status (EYP) resulting in Level 6 practitioner.  Working at Charlestown has provided the opportunity to enhance my career and take my learning further.  Charlestown has supported me during my studies and which now I can put into practice within nursery to enhance children’s learning and development.

I have worked at Charlestown for several years now.  I started here in March ,2003 as a student on placement and was employed as a Nursery Assistant in October, 2003.  Throughout my years at Charlestown, I have had the opportunity to progress onto a professional level and a personal level.  I have worked my way from Nursery Assistant to Nursery Officer and am currently acting Senior Nursery Officer. I have had opportunity to work through NVQ Levels 2,3 & 4 and have recently completed my Early Years Foundation Degree graduating from theUniversityofBolton.

I started atCharlestownas a student training for my Level 2 NVQ in Childcare.

As I was coming to the end of the course, I enquired if there was any jobs available.  I have since been taken on in a Family Room.  I have been given opportunity to improve and am currently working towards my Level 3 Diploma throughCharlestown.  It is a very rewarding job.
