Pre school room

To ensure our Pre-school children are developing through the EYFS we have a qualified EYT (EARLY YEARS TEACHER) who has a degree in childrens Care Learning and Development. Our EYT co-ordinates the EYFS throughout the nursery with regular monthlly meetings with staff.  Other pre-school staff have level 5 foundation degree in childrens care learning and development and have extensive knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Our pre-school rooms focus on continuous provision incorporating play areas such as sand, water, book area, role play, construction, mark making, maths, craft and computer.  Children can access play activities throughout each area as they wish.  Our children learn through play by accessing provision and structured activities in each area.  Our children develop social skills in sharing and interacting with their peers.  Physical development is promoted through hand eye co-ordination, gross and fine motor skills which are refined through mark making area using the resources such as pencils, crayons and felt pens; this develops children’s ability to hold tools correctly, make marks and leads to the formation of letters and eventually their names.  The planning of our children’s day focuses on the children’s interests, this is observed by children’s key person who will then record, reflect and respond to individual children’s next steps. The pre-school children access our extensive gardens 3 times daily taking their learning outside. To develop our children’s creative and physical activities we have a large indoor rainy day room that we can plan music and movement, soft play and lots more exciting physical activities. To enhance this we also offer dance and football with qualified staff.

The focus within the pre-school room is of fun with a routine not only of play but to incorporate lots of activities such as baking story time, rhyme time, circle time and discussion time. Through these activities children learn numbers, colours, shapes, letters and sound.

Our ratios within our pre-school rooms are lower than that of a state nursery being 8 children to 1 practitioner which ensures children’s learning needs are met.

Our children have their own learning journey file which will include observations, photographs and creative work all personal to each individual child; this can be viewed at any time.  We hold termly parents evenings where you are welcome to come along and view your child’s folder and discuss their learning and development with their key person.

We aim for each child to full potential in a fun and exciting environment with experience well qualified staff to guide our children through every mile stone and to ensure they have a smooth transition into school.
